Job Description

COAERS is currently seeking candidates for the position of Communications Specialist. This position involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing communications related projects and strategies; developing and editing content and publications; marketing; social media; technical writing; and member education. The successful candidate must be adept at working collaboratively with all divisions of the organization and possess strong communication skills, as well as a large measure of diplomacy.

  • Knowledge of news and communication media
  • Editing and preparing informational material
  • Educational content development
  • Social media and video production
  • Skill in editorial and design concepts and practices, and the ability to use applicable software
  • Ability to research and prepare information
  • Manage the compilation of documents
  • Design communication plans and materials related to the priorities of the organization
  • Compose content for the website and social media

Candidate Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Experience in journalism, public information, communications, or media relations work.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications or related field plus two years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
  • Experience in employee benefits or government is preferred.

Compensation: The starting salary will likely be between $70,000 to $85,000 annually with the actual salary corresponding to the experience level and credentials of the candidate within the parameters of public sector compensation.
