Job Description:

This position is responsible for public affairs activities (from inception to execution and measurement) that advance communication efforts to inform, educate and mobilize key audiences about the Hogg Foundation’s mission and initiatives, and to support the Hogg Foundation brand. These activities include initiating storytelling proposals; participating in regular editorial meetings; researching, writing, and editing news releases, articles, speeches, web content, and other materials for the media and the public; and serving as the principal contact for media inquiries.

Please note that the Hogg Foundation is part of the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin). UT Austin considers this an on-campus position per its internal policies. However, the Hogg Foundation is able to offer flexible work arrangements, including local and Texas telework, through at least January 2022. Telework is not available to non-Texas employees. This part-time position is well suited for freelancers seeking stable income, mid-career professionals who are prioritizing work-life balance, and those interested in the merging of PR with an advocacy mission.

Candidate Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree. Three years of experience in public affairs including media relations, marketing communications, journalism or planning, writing, editing and production of informational materials. Demonstrated experience in assisting with planning, developing and executing successful communications campaigns and strategies.

Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Capacity to think strategically and respond analytically. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
