We’re looking for someone with established public relations or journalism experience who has some familiarity with business/financial media. Fraud is a hot topic in the news and we want someone eager to learn more about the details of fraud prevention and translate technical jargon or data into a hook that will catch a journalist’s eye. In this role you will work with employees across multiple departments and with our industry-leading members, so demonstrated interpersonal skills are necessary. This role also allows you to stretch your creative muscles not only through writing, but helping create videos, infographics, podcasts and more. Curiosity, creativity, attention to detail, a strong writing background and an ability to work under tight deadlines are all important. In this position, you will drive exposure and media coverage for the ACFE by developing and managing the public relations plan and communications strategy collaboratively with the communications and management teams. You will be expected to handle any incoming media requests, cultivate relationships with journalists at outlets like the Wall Street Journal and CNBC, regularly pitch experts for interviews, share embargoed reports and write and edit marketing collateral, corporate communications and press releases.

Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of journalism, public relations or marketing and communications experience.
  • Knowledge of financial, business and trade publications and opportunities. Familiarity with international publications a plus.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • An acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • Effective usage of English grammar, syntax and punctuation; thorough understanding of style and current English usage.
  • Proficient in AP Style.
  • Experience blending AP Style with a house style a plus.
  • Experience working with Cision or other media/PR service a plus.Proven skills in organizing work, attending to detail, taking direction, managing time effectively and handling multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Skills in collaborating with executives and staff across departments.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
